There is no perfect voice
No perfect voice has ever existed. There have been some wonderful, brilliant, fantastic, beautiful ones, but every voice has some weaknesses.
Perfect performances are another matter. If a singer reaches an audience and takes them to a beautiful place, I consider that a perfect experience. What is more perfect than giving someone a moving, beautiful moment, a shift of perspective, a forgetting of all cares?
Don’t think of yourself poorly for not being a virtuoso of the larynx. Even though that’s a goal I strive for every day with myself and with my students, it’s not everything. The voice you have right now is full of expressive potential – with music and/or with words and/or with the spontaneous emotions coming through it when you hold a loved one, smell something wonderful, cry out against a hurt, or blurt in a joyous outburst.
